Hawthorn Bush....CRATAEGUS Sp

Just some pics I took of the Hawthorn Bushes in full fruit.
Most are along fence lines of farms and properties
The small haw berries are medicinal and make jam..I made some...still alive
Apparently the medicinal properties relate to cardiac disorders of nervous origin?
They contain triterpenic acids and flavinoids
In China they are sold as dried berries
But anyhow they are abundant now and BRILLIANT RED..like little crab apples

PANCAKES ..YUMMY!

Recipe for Golden Wattle Pancakes (B Larkins Lake Tyers Beach Vic)

Beat 2 egg yolks and one ounce of melted butter (sorry for the imperial)
Add 1/2 cup of milk
Add 1/2 cup of flour
Add 2 cups of Golden Wattle Blooms - stems removed (the larger pom poms are best but any wattle will do)
MIX well and lastly fold in stiffly beaten egg whites
Drop spoonfuls into a buttered pan and fry like pancakes
They have a nutty flavour

I know its a rehash ..BUT I LOVE IT

Pink SIRIS or Silk Tree

AS we head into depth of Summer, we are starting to see
some of the more exotic plants florish
ONE in particular is the mimosa like ALBEZIA julibrissin..with its
pink cotton top florets...I refer to it as SILK TREE.
Whilst others have their mauve blue JACARANDA or the
pink panicle of the CAPE CHESNUT tree...I celebrate each dusk with the silk tree closing down its leaflets like the mimosa plant..and each morning awaking to a pink flourish as sunlight catches the flower stamens of the Albezia
these are my 3 favourite summer flowering trees

At Last.....I get to eat my first cherry from my new tree
This is the one that had a close pruning from my young
nephews last year
Still the taste was marvellicious ....now where can I get a
chocolate mousse tree to go with it

I went off my little tree when they tore into "SPACE
COWBOY"

That man is just so soulfully funky...and the set was as tight as ..
JK was the conductor and kept the tempo revving..you could see him tweaking all the time

Several years ago LMcK came to OZ
I was so fortunate to attend this event that has stirred in my soul for evermore.
It wasthe most melodic and bounteous experience I had ever had musically.
I was captivated by her lillting lyric and by the structure of her performed music.
It was a percussive honeycomb cast like a webbed toffee over all of us but me particularly

It is hard to believe that this spiny succulent can appear so restrained all year and then produce such a magnificent crimson red flower clustered with many long stamen ..and then within 24 hrs loose this beauteous floral fruit and return to its somewhat restrained quiessence

Ever since my grandfather gave me a bare bulb of one at Xmas one year, I have delighted in their
beauty.
Half buried bulbs develope in late spring and what follows is truly wondrous

I love the smell of its perfume..but better still to come is the delicious
